He is licensed to practice law in Colorado and the District of Columbia. 


Dan earned his Juris Doctor degree at the American University's Washington College of Law. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School. He is admitted to practice before the Colorado Supreme Court, the Supreme Court of the District of Columbia, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and the U.S. Supreme Court. 


He is a Life Member of the National Eagle Scout Association and a retired Army LTC.


Dan holds a Federal Top Secret-SCI Security Clearance; he is an Accredited Attorney for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; he is certified as a US government comptroller and a Graduate of the Naval Justice Institute's Cyber Law and Operations Course. 


Results Oriented

A former legislative director to a U.S. Representative and Senator, he has written legislation, secured appropriations and affected the outcome of government regulations. He is an expert in the areas of Native American law, federal regulations, and governmental affairs and public policy. 


He was the Deputy Director and General Counsel for the Colorado Water Conservation Board and the Assistant Director of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources. In his role at the CWCB, he practiced water law, obtaining and protecting water rights for the state, reviewing substitute supply and augmentation plans, reviewing flood plain designations and overseeing the financing and construction of water projects throughout the state. He helped established two endangered species recovery programs. He served on the state Supreme Court Committee that wrote the current water court rules. He is also an expert in the areas of Interstate Compacts and International Treaties. As Assistant Director, he oversaw every Colorado Department of Natural Resources agency including the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and the Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety.


As a military lawyer, he helped thousands of Soldiers with estate, consumer protection, medical and military administrative procedural problems. He has also advised commanders in the areas of civil law, cyber law, fiscal and contract law, intelligence law, the conduct of investigations and criminal law.

As a private practitioner, Dan has represented individuals, businesses and Indian Tribes. He has helped clients comply with federal regulations. He has advised clients regarding corporate law, commercial litigation, environmental law, and regulatory compliance, natural resources and intellectual property. He has put his knowledge of government to work for his clients which have included small businesses, entities entitled to government set-asides based on their diversity, multi-national corporations, large investor owned utilities and individuals.
